Key domestic economic indicators for the second quarter of 2021:The real economic growth rate (GDP) is 7.43%.The export order volume rose by 35.92% to hit the second highest of US$ 160.95 billion. The export trade value reached a new high of US$ 108.972 billion, a year-on-year increase of 37.35%. The industrial production index and manufacturing industry production index climbed to 129.23 and 131.08, respectively. This represents a year-on-year rise of 16.50% and 17.61%.

As of the end of June 2021, a total of 240,226 businesses were registered in Taipei City. This number rose by 1,683 compared to the previous year, which represents a year-on-year increase of 0.71%. Firms registered in Taipei account for 14.63% of all businesses in Taiwan. The total registered capital of the Taipei City companies reaches13.2813 trillion, constituting 51.37%of the aggregate capital of all firms in Taiwan. 1,017 factories are currently registered in Taipei City, which is 20 less than last year.
The total actual number of companies and firms in Taipei City totals 240,728 had a sales volume of 6.9609 trillion in the second quarter of 2021, representing an increase of 11.87% compared to the previous year and accounts for 30.00% of the total sales volume of all Taiwanese businesses. The tertiary industry had a sales volume of 5.6034 trillion, making up 43.57% of the total sales of all tertiary businesses in Taiwan. Approved foreign investments in Taipei City amount to US$ 0.650 million, a decrease by 23.53% over 2020Q2. This amount accounts for 57.98% of all foreign investments in Taiwan. 54 newly established foreign companies were registered in Taipei City, which is 3 less than in 2020Q2.
